Paris Plus Par Art Basel

Cast Stone International was honored to support the inaugural edition of Paris+ par Art Basel, which took place from October 20–23, 2022, serving as the Official Partner of the Site sector. This series of curated outdoor exhibitions spanned four iconic Parisian locations. The Jardin des Tuileries – Domaine national du Louvre, in collaboration with the musée national Eugène-Delacroix, hosted 'La Suite de l'Histoire', an exhibition of large-scale works curated by Annabelle Ténèze, Director of Les Abattoirs, Musée – Frac Occitanie Toulouse. The exhibition continued at the musée national Eugène-Delacroix with a suite of sculptures by Thaddeus Mosley. Omer Fast presented an immersive project at the Chapelle des Petits-Augustins des Beaux-Arts de Paris. A sprawling installation by Alicja Kwade, curated by Studio Jérôme Sans, is on view on Place Vendôme until November 13, 2022.

“For a long time, it was believed that France’s future was very much its past. But, culturally speaking, the country is evolving. I think it’s more porous and more permeable to external influences.”

— CLÉMENT DELÉPINE, Director Paris+ par Art Basel

CITY OF ART

Director Clément Delépine and curator Annabelle Ténèze introduce Sites, the free program of Paris+ par Art Basel, and discuss France’s history as a cultural capital and its emergence as a nexus of contemporary art. Sites brought together works by artists from across the globe, striving to make art accessible to all—a cause dear to David Yurman’s heart.

A WALK IN THE PARK

"La Suite de l'Histoire"(The Continuation of History) was a collection of 21 large-scale sculptures in theJardins des Tuileries. The installation showcased a variety of pieces by artists who are from different places, but who all want to engage with the question of how to interpret or re-frame the history of art and public spaces. Annabelle Ténèze gave David Yurman a tour of some of these striking pieces.

TWO AMERICANS IN PARIS

Wood sculptures by Thaddeus Mosley were showcased at the musée national Eugène-Delacroix, marking the 96-year-old artist’s first solo show in the French capital. The starting point of Mosley’s works are fallen trees that he carves using only a mallet and chisel, a process he compares to jazz improvisation. Mosley and David Yurman connected over their shared love of sculptural form.

“Why did we choose to support the fair? We choose to support everything that is authentic about art, that is contemporary, that is in the moment.”
